Wiper for president

By Alana Lojek, The Clipper, Tuesday, October 7, 2008

CHESTER — It was announced  at the Chester Chamber of Commerce's recent Annual General Meeting and Dinner that a new president was elected, with five-year president Elaine LeBlanc stepping down. Taking over the position will be Ben Wiper.

Elaine LeBlanc spent eleven years on the board of the Chamber of Commerce. Although she enjoyed the time she spent as president, LeBlanc is looking forward to having more balance in her life now. "Personally, it's difficult to step back, but I need a vacation and need to spend more time on my business (Linens for Life)," she says. During her presidency, LeBlanc had many accomplishments. One of the achievements she is most proud of is financial stability. "We were in debt when I started, and now we're in excellent financial shape," she reports. Chamber of Commerce membership rose from 70 to 185 members during this time span. The Chamber went from not having a computer to have two computer systems and two paid staff members.
