Folks who enjoy hiking may choose to walk the Aspotogan Trail from Hubbards to East River (12km) or the Chester Connection Trail from East River to Martin’s River (35 km). Ross Farm Museum, located on Highway 12, is Nova Scotia’s Agricultural Museum where you step back in time and experience first-hand rural life as it was in the 1800s. The Farm features heritage breeds rarely seen on farms today.

Chester Heritage Auction

is on July 12 at the Chester Train Station starting at 9:30 a.m.
Drop off of items July 2 and 3 from 2-4 adn 6-8 at the station. Other times can be arranged by calling 275-3826
Viewing July 11 from 2-4 and 6-8

Beaches & Swimming

Whether it’s the soothing serenity of an undulating ocean current washing against the shore, or the excitement of some beach volleyball fun under the sun, you’ll find the beach of your dreams along our coastlines. Visit our beaches, including Freda's Beach, East River Beach, Bayswater Beach and near by Queensland all renowned beautiful views and excellent swimming. Although not large, this supervised beach is one of the most popular on the South Shore. The warm air and sand draw large crowds, so arrive early on the hot days to find a parking spot.

We also have community lakes where young and old can find a spot to take a refreshing dip on a hot day!

Chester Race Week
Chester Race Week is the largest keel boat race east of Montreal. The four day event takes place from August 13 to 16, 2008 and has been presented by the Chester Yacht Club for over 100 years. Race Week provides highly competitive racing in several classes. Residents and visitors are welcome to view the action from the deck of the club and join the racers for live music, barbeques and dancing.
